There’s a great brochure that Disney released in 1977 that was used to market the People Mover to communities and businesses. The 18 page document discusses the history and development of the People Mover system from the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair to the installation at Walt Disney World. There are a lot of schematics used to help sell the product.
I really wanted to share this image, since it shows the original paint scheme. I just wish I could zoom in closer to the signs on the speed ramps.
The next image is a diagram of the vehicle that could be sold for commercial or community use.
Finally, we are presented with an artist’s rendering of one in the wild!
Sadly, the only one ever installed was at the Houston Intercontinental Airport in 1982 and is considered the fourth generation of the PeopleMover system.
Have you ever ridden the PeopleMover in Texas?
